Yesterday March 11, 2011 the earthquake hits the northeastern shore was the biggest recorded quake ever to hit Japan. It said to be fifth-largest earthquake in the world since 1900 and was nearly 8,000 times stronger than one that devastated Christchurch, New Zealand, last month according to scientists.
This earthquake resulted to tsunami that causes Japan's northeastern coast in swampy wasteland that led to broken houses, overturned cars, sludge and dirty water. And this Saturday morning, the nation awoke to the devastating aftermath of one of its greatest disasters, a powerful tsunami created by one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded.
The earthquake shook dozens of towns and villages along a 1300 miles (2100 km) of coastline and tall buildings swayed in Tokyo, hundreds of miles from the epicenter. A few minutes later, the earthquake triggered a 23-feet (seven meters) tsunami that swept far inland over the fields and towns destroyed.
Across the Pacific had put on alert - including coastal areas of South America, Canada and Alaska - but the waves are not as bad as expected.
Unfortunately, the death toll from Friday 8.9-magnitude earthquake was massive over 1000, but an untold number of bodies were thought to ruins and debris, and Japan was preparing for more bad news that the authorities tried to reach areas hardest hit.
